Creating movies like Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction requires a special mind, and Tarantino is certainly unique. He is somewhat eccentric and nervous, always fidgeting and wrestling with the right words to express his opinions, which he has in droves. Above all, Tarantino is a passionate person who concentrates all his efforts on the things he loves most, namely writing, directing and acting in films.Watch any of his interviews and you'll notice he loves to interact too. He's never at a loss for words and jokes around just as much as he politicizes. Though he has publicly argued with fellow controversial directors Spike Lee and Oliver Stone, he is well-liked among actors, as he's known for reviving the careers of celebs like John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson.
Not only is Tarantino talented, he is multi-talented. With his unique storytelling and cool camera angles, he is a great director. The twisted plots and great conversations in his films are proof that Tarantino is a skilled writer as well. Finally, the small roles that he plays in almost every one of his films are always memorable. Thus, he has shown that he can hold his own as a character actor as well. In every project, Tarantino combines these elements, displaying to all that he is one of the most creative moviemaking minds of today.
Woman Magnetism
Although Tarantino dated Mira Sorvino for two years until 1998, he doesn't appear to be a Don Juan in real life. His snappy wit and creative mind may attract diehard female fans, but he needs an image change to move into the ranks of Brad Pitt and Vin Diesel.
It's a sad fact that the men behind the camera often see the ladies flock to actors instead. However, Tarantino shouldn't mind too much, since he has had the pleasure of watching Uma Thurman, Salma Hayek and Lucy Liu light up the screen in his films.
Accomplishments & Fame
Quentin Tarantino and Daryl Hannah
After finishing a small, amateurish film called My Best Friend's Birthday in 1987, Tarantino experienced success with 1992's Reservoir Dogs. At first an underground hit, the film, about five criminals caught in a bank heist gone wrong, impressed viewers at the Sundance Film Festival and has become increasingly popular since its release. It wouldn't be the first time Tarantino would receive praise for writing, directing and acting in a film.In fact, two years later he would engage in the same jobs for what remains his biggest commercial hit, Pulp Fiction. Reviving the careers of John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson, and also starring Uma Thurman, Harvey Keitel and Bruce Willis, the twisted plot and cool dialogue earned Tarantino seven Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. He took home the latter prize, and also won the "Palme D'Or" award at the Cannes Film Festival.
Since these two hits, Tarantino has selected his projects carefully. He directed and produced the vampire action film From Dusk Till Dawn and caught people's eye with Jackie Brown, starring Pam Grier, Bridget Fonda and our favorite, Robert De Niro. Following this last effort, Tarantino took six years off from directing, acting in Broadway's revival of Wait Until Dark instead. In 2003, Tarantino returned to the director's chair and released Kill Bill: Vol. 1, a violent revenge film starring Uma Thurman, Vivica A. Fox and Lucy Liu. The second installment of the box-office hit, Kill Bill: Vol. 2, is set to hit theaters in April 2004.
